Description
The Dometic FreshJet 5 FJX5557MHPBKCS is the mechanical-control 15,000 BTU rooftop air conditioner with an integrated reverse-cycle heat pump. Unlike the electronic FJX5557EHP, this MHP version does not have the FreshJet multi-zone electronic control board pre-installed and must be paired with the matching mechanical air-distribution and wall-control components.

Control-system configuration
Dometic's FreshJet 5 buying guide shows the MHP for non-ducted installations and pairs it with the Universal Mechanical ADB, item 9620015980, and Universal ADB wall thermostat, item 9105304486. These interior components are required for a complete operating system and are sold separately. The MHP model should not be selected for a ducted installation based only on the common 14 × 14 roof opening.
This MHP version uses the mechanical-control architecture. It does not include a pre-installed electronic control board. Confirm the ADB and thermostat part numbers and the coach's wiring before purchase; EHP electronic-control components are not substitutes for the mechanical MHP control arrangement.
Important installation and refrigerant information
This rooftop unit is an R32 system. R32 is an A2L refrigerant classified as mildly flammable. Dometic's electronic heat-pump manual requires installation in an RV with a floor area greater than 4 m² and specifies that connected air ducts must not contain potential ignition sources. Do not use a flame-based leak detector. Installation, refrigerant-circuit service and repair must be carried out by appropriately qualified personnel following the current Dometic instructions and applicable electrical / RV codes.
For an existing Penguin II or other rooftop A/C replacement, verify the exact old model, roof opening and structure, electrical supply, thermostat, control protocol, ADB / return-air grille and wiring. A matching roof opening alone does not establish plug-and-play compatibility. Do not mix R32 and R410A systems or assume old controls can be reused.
Included components and warranty
Package scope is the rooftop air-conditioning / heat-pump unit and the manufacturer's warranty documentation. The thermostat and interior ADB or return-air grille are separate items as described above. Refer to the supplied Dometic warranty card and current written Dometic warranty terms for the applicable coverage period and claims process; no warranty duration is stated here without a current model-specific warranty document.
