Description
Fuel control under cornering and acceleration is central to the 1308-E85 VRS-4150 design. Chamfered Nitrophyl floats help avoid shutting fuel off in corners, and secondary jet extenders run through a notched float to remain submerged during acceleration.
The E85 carburetor is rated at 850 CFM with four barrels and mechanical secondaries for racing applications. Its bowls are 20 percent larger, with anti-slosh ribs and a sculpted baffle that directs fuel against the sidewalls to reduce foam. Dual accelerator-pump circuits and annular boosters support fuel delivery and mixing.
Each fuel circuit has accessible air bleeds. Four-circuit billet metering blocks accept industry-standard screw-in bleeds and jets, while interchangeable idle jets and four-corner mixture screws tune idle quality. Two auxiliary idle-air screws set idle speed without disturbing throttle-blade position. Power valves on both the primary and secondary sides permit leaner cruising and enrichment as vacuum drops.
Connection provisions include four vacuum tubes of different sizes, the common transmission-kickdown points on the throttle arm, and accommodation for a GM three-wire TPS. No choke or EGR is fitted.
