CURT 81940 is a Grade 70 safety-latch clevis hook designed for 1/4-inch transport-chain applications. It has a 1/2-inch hook opening, a 5/16-inch clevis pin, and a manufacturer-rated 12,600 lb gross trailer weight capacity. A removable hook pin and cotter pin attach the forged, heat-treated steel hook to a suitable chain; the spring-loaded latch helps retain the connection. Yellow-zinc plating resists corrosion. Verify that each chain and hook meets or exceeds the trailer gross weight.
